A childhood memory : as puddles from rain gradually dried up and the mud became as smooth as the mirror's surface, I would gently scoop up the mud and make a mudpie, secretly enjoying the sensuous feeling.

I remember how fine-textured the mud was, how resilient, how throughly sensual. NOw and adult and a potter, I again confront the magical qualitgies of clay.

I hope to employ clay in a range of ways, making use of its essential mineral nature withoutbecoming too close to the clay or too distant from it. It is a powerful material for creating a global environment.
